Sarah was born and raised in Metro Detroit and has lived in both the suburbs and the city proper. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 2008 with her Master of Social Work, focusing on community organizing and environmental justice. In 2007, while still a graduate student, she began working with the SW Detroit Community Benefits Coalition and has continued to support the coalition’s work over the past 17 years through community organizing and communications. Sarah worked at SDEV from 2009-2015, during which time she played an integral role in building the Clean Diesel Program.

Over the past 10 years, Sarah has worked primarily in the industrial sector for a local metal recycling company. She worked as the company’s Environmental and Regulatory Coordinator, and then in the purchasing department, with her most recent role as the Corporate Purchasing Manager. Sarah’s diverse employment background gives her a unique perspective on how to engage and support environmental initiatives and partnerships between nonprofits and businesses. Sarah resides in metro Detroit with her husband Steve, their daughter Davie, and their orange cat Stuart.
