Detroit opens 5 cooling centers to shield residents from high temperatures

To help residents stay cool with temperatures reaching 90s daily this week, Detroit is opening cooling centers throughout the city. These recreational centers are also serving as food distribution centers, in addition to providing water and protective gear. Entry is not permitted without a mask or some kind of face covering, abiding by social distancing guidelines. Two of the five facilities are located in southwest Detroit: Kemeny Recreation Center (2260 S. Fort St.) & Patton Recreation Center (2301 Woodmere).
